Ladies Night at PIT: Stilettos and Pit Stops

Join us Wednesday, May 13 for Ladies Night, allowing local women the chance to join forces for food, fun, networking, and to learn from industry leaders how to leverage race week to increase your business.

North Carolina State University Industrial Extension Service (NCSU IES) and Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) offer several joint Lean Performance U enrollment dates during 2009. For additional information and registration, please visit the NCSU IES website. Current program dates are June 16-17, August 4-5, and October 13-14.

PIT and NCSU IES have partnered to bring their respective world class industry training programs together in a unique learning opportunity. NCSU IES provides extensive services that utilize lean enterprise and quality initiatives in the office, factory, and healthcare industries.

The news of cutbacks in the motorsports industry doesn't seem to be squashing local students' dreams of being a part of it.  Representatives from NASCAR Technical Institute and Performance Instruction and Training (PIT) said students are still eagerly enrolling — and getting hired.  The students said nothing is going to deter them from working hard to become the best.

Pit Crew's Brand of Athletic Training Featured in Article


A recent article in the Detroit Free Press explores the athletic training of pit crew members in the modern motorsports arena.  The article features PIT’s brand of training through partner, Fox sports analyst, and six-time Winston Cup Championship winner Jeff Hammond, as well as Pit Crew U graduate Jake Brzozowski who is currently a rear tire carrier for Red Bull Racing Team’s No. 83 Sprint Cup car driven by Brian Vickers.

Think Tank Learns to Think Inside the Pit Box


Some of the enterprise learning industry's thought leaders gathered at Chief Learning Officer magazine's Think Tank event at the Charlotte, N.C., corporate headquarters of Lowe's Companies Inc. to discuss how to measure the impact of learning. While there, attendees got a look at an intensive development program for people who work in one of the most high-pressure performance environments around: the race-car pit crew.

History Channel Series Premier Features PIT


The first episode of  The Works , a new weekly series by The History Channel was filmed at the Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) facilities featuring a segment on the how impact wrenches utilized by motorsport pit crews work to remove and install lug nuts with blazing speed.

The complete episode can be purchased at the The History Channel Online Store. The series airs each Thursday evening.

 
PIT Featured on ABC's New Primetime Show "Wanna Bet?"


A crew from Performance Instruction & Training (PIT) were featured on ABC’s new show “Wanna Bet?,” which features celebrity judges betting on the success or failure of contestants’ stunts.  A team of female motorsports fans competed to see if they could complete a pit stop in double the time of less than half of PIT’s professional crew.  To see who won the bet, view the second segment of the series premiere of “Wanna Bet?”

 
Recent PCU Graduate Featured in Hometown Newspaper


"Brent Ligon left his native West Virginia last August with only one goal in mind.  The 21-year old St. Albans native packed his belongings and moved to Mooresville, N.C., with hopes of eventually landing a job behind the pit wall on NASCAR's biggest stage.  And thanks in part to his participation and recent graduation from the 64th group of participants at Pit Crew U, Ligon already has earned a slight foothold in the racing world."

PIT to Appear on Reality TV with Barenaked Lady


Ed Robertson, founding member of the Barenaked Ladies, had no idea what he'd gotten himself into when he flew his Cessna pontoon plane from Canada, landed on Lake Norman and visited PIT Instruction & Training.

Ed and his production crew were in Mooresville to film a segment of Ed's UP! adventure reality show. The segment is scheduled to air when the new fall television season begins.

Leno's Ross the Intern Travels to Race City USA

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno sent Ross Matthews ("Ross the Intern"), to Race City USA for a a very funny segment of "Ross the Intern Goes to Pit Crew School" taped at PIT Istruction & Training.

Ross spent a day training with actual crew members at PIT and eventually made the big time as the sign board holder for the Robert Yates Racing #90 Citi Financial Ford in the NASCAR Busch series during the fall race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
